Publications

Rhode Island Genealogical Society pursues an active program of publishing source material for the study of Rhode Island families, such as diaries, cemetery transcriptions, compiled genealogies, and transcriptions of original papers. We are proud to offer the books published by RIGS and classic sources by society members in the RIGS Online Store.

Our quarterly journal, Rhode Island Roots, features many Rhode Island records, such as cemetery and tax lists, General Assembly petitions, civil and military records, and genealogical articles — all focusing on Rhode Island families. Other features include articles about Rhode Islanders in other state census records, queries and our list of RI research volunteers.

Our special bonus issue, “Gleanings from Rhode Island Town Records,” is published yearly in April and has become an important tool in Rhode Ilsnad genealogical and historical research, offering the long-hidden riches of town council records to illuminate the lives of our ancestors.

We also publish a newsletter, The RIGS Reporter, for our members with articles about local Rhode Island history and genealogy, as well as providing information regarding upcoming events.

As with all of our publications, online issues of Rhode Island Roots and Gleanings, and The RIGS Reporter newsletters are available to members for download. Please login for access to our publications through the Members Only link in our menu. Not yet a member? Join RIGS today to access our back issues and everything RIGS has to offer!
