Standard memberships offer RIGS publications in printed format and will be mailed.

Please note: RIGS also offers Individual Digital Memberships that do not include physical copies of our publications. If you would prefer to receive our publications digitally, please purchase the Dual Digital Membership

 

Individual annual membership for one person. Publications are mailed with the exception of our RIGS Reporter Newsletter, which is emailed.

Our non-Digital Memberships include:

  • A subscription to Rhode Island Roots, a quarterly journal published by the Society, containing articles and information relating to Rhode Island families..
  • Special publication, Gleanings, issued once a year usually in April, free to members who join or renew prior to February 1st of the year (if dues are paid after February 1st, the cost of Gleanings is $12)
  • Our newsletter, RIGS Reporter, issued frequently throughout the year via email.
  • Digital access to RIGS Publications back issues, including Rhode Island RootsGleanings and the RIGS Reporter newsletter, through our website.
  • Access to our members only Surname Research page which allows you to contact Society members who are researching surnames in Rhode Island or elsewhere.  These contacts can often provide new information and helpful insight regarding Rhode Island genealogy research.
  • Workshops and lectures, held each spring and fall, on subjects relating to Rhode Island genealogy.
  • RIGS Membership card, which serves as proof of your being a genealogist, aiding your research of municipal and county records. Cards can be printed directly from our website or a physical card can be requested at checkout. Digital cards are also available.
  • RIGS members may submit up to four free queries per year in our RIGS Reporter newsletter. (The fee for non-members is $5 per query.)
  • Access to recordings of lectures and handouts from our Quarterly Meetings and our Annual Meeting (available to members only).
  • Membership pins available for purchase – wear your Society’s logo with pride.
  • Greater contact with other genealogists exploring Rhode Island families.
  • Volunteer researchers available for simple requests in their local cities or towns (available to members only).
